How to choose an FIA balaclava

A fireproof balaclava is worn under the helmet and protects the head and neck from flame. It has to cover the hair completely and leave no skin exposed at the base of the neck.
Homologation and safety
In competition the balaclava must be homologated to FIA 8856-2000 or FIA 8856-2018, worn under the helmet.
How to measure
Measure your head circumference at the widest point, as for a helmet, and compare with the chart below.
