What separates them

• Height only: you set the ride height, damping is fixed from the factory. The simplest option, and the cheapest.
• Height plus rebound: you also set how fast the damper extends after being compressed. That is what keeps the wheel on broken tarmac.
• Height, rebound and compression: you control separately how firmly the damper resists being compressed, so how much the car dives under braking and rolls in a corner.
• Compression split into low and high speed: a damper set up to resist small inputs firmly and large impacts softly. A circuit answer.

How to choose

Start from the vehicle filter: the kit has to be made for your model and generation, and on some cars for the engine or the drivetrain too, because the load on the front axle differs. Check the drop range: a kit that goes very low does not mean you can run it at full drop on the road, because the maximum is a construction limit, not the recommended setting.

What comes after fitting

Set the height with the car on its wheels and settled, not on a lift, then have the alignment done on a rig. Damping is set last, starting from the middle of the range. If you only want the car lower without changing the dampers, look at lowering springs; if you want the full assembly without adjustment, see fixed sport suspension.
