Types of disc

• Plain: the ordinary replacement disc. The quietest and the most affordable, enough for normal traffic.
• Slotted: channels that clean the layer of material off the pad and let the gases out. They hold friction better under heavy use.
• Drilled: slightly better cooling and less mass, but more prone to cracking if they are held at high temperature constantly.
• Two piece: the friction ring on an aluminium bell. Less unsprung mass and less thermal distortion.

How to choose the series

The base series are for public roads. The intermediate ones take heat better and are meant for heavy cars, towing or occasional spirited driving. The top series are for track, where the disc spends a long time at high temperature.

Do not change the disc on its own

The disc and the pad work as a pair. Choose the pads for the same use, and if you want a firmer pedal, fit braided hoses as well. If the pedal is soft or vibrates, the cause is more often in the hoses, in the fluid or in a bad bedding in than in the disc. New discs need a few progressive stops before the first hard use.
