Sealed lead acid or lithium
Sealed AGM batteries, such as the Odyssey ones, give high cranking current and take vibration well. Lithium ones, such as Super B, weigh several times less, which counts when you are taking kilograms out of the back, but they need a compatible charger and lose capacity in the cold.
Box and mount
If the battery is moved into the cabin, most regulations ask for a closed box vented to the outside, plus a rigid mounting. That is what the FIA compliant aluminium mounts and the polypropylene boxes are for. A battery held with bungee straps does not pass scrutineering.
Maintenance charger
A track car sits for months without being started. Optimate chargers hold the battery at level without overcharging it, and that extends the life of an expensive battery more than anything else.
The cables
When you move the battery to the rear, the cable gauge has to grow with the length, otherwise the voltage drops and the starter has nothing to work with. And do not forget the main fuse, as close to the positive terminal as possible.
