Two types that do not stand in for each other
Vacuum hose, from 3 to 8 mm, replaces the small cracked hoses in the engine bay. Boost hose has textile reinforcement and is made for intake and intercooler, where it holds boost pressure. Vacuum hose fitted on boost swells and comes off the union at the first serious acceleration.
Dedicated kit or parts individually
The Forge kits are made for a particular engine, with the elbows and lengths already cut. The rest are individual parts and hose by the piece, for when you are rebuilding a run to measure. The kit costs more, but it does not leave you with an elbow that will not fit and another order to place.
The clamps matter
A standard clamp, with a perforated band, cuts silicone. On silicone you use solid band clamps, and at high pressure, T bolt clamps. They are tightened to the figure on the data sheet, not until the screw stops: silicone is softer than rubber and it crushes.
The colour
Colour changes nothing about strength or life. Black goes unnoticed under the bonnet, blue and red get seen. Choose by how you want the engine to look, not by specification.
