The standard has to be at least that of the car
A Euro 4 catalyst on a car homologated to Euro 6 does not solve the problem at the emissions test. Take your car's standard or a higher one, not the other way round.
Metallic or ceramic
A metallic core resists flow less and takes shock and temperature better. A ceramic one is cheaper, but it breaks under knocks and large thermal shocks. Both do the same job.
