Water Temperature Gauges

The original dash shows water temperature through a needle that sits in the middle over a wide band, so it does not alarm you. A dedicated gauge gives you the figure. The sensor mounts in the hot return or in the block, not next to the radiator, where the water is already cooled and the reading lies to you.

Ghid de alegere si detalii

The range

40-120 degrees covers a road car. 50-150 makes sense on a track car, where you want to see the values that go past normal, not just find the needle at the end of its travel.

The sensor and where it goes

Some gauges come with a sensor, others do not; it is stated in the name. The sensor mounts in the return line or in a hose adaptor, not next to the radiator, where the water is already cooled and the reading lies to you.

What you actually watch

It is not the peak figure that matters most, but how quickly it comes down after a hard lap. A car that climbs and never comes back down has an airflow or circulation problem, not a radiator that is too small.
