Hub Centric Rings

An aftermarket wheel has a centre bore larger than the hub, so it fits more models. The ring fills the difference and seats the wheel exactly on centre. Without it the wheel centres on the studs, which are made to clamp, not to centre, and you get vibration at speed.

Without them, the wheel centres on the studs

The studs are made to clamp, not to centre. A wheel centred on them vibrates at speed, even with perfect balancing, and it loads the bolts as well.

Two dimensions

The outside diameter is that of the hole in the wheel, and the inside one that of the car's hub. Both have to be exact. The aluminium ones take heat better and do not deform after repeated removals.
