Made per engine or universal
The dedicated kits, the Forge ones above all, come with brackets and hoses made for that engine and fit in a few hours. Universal ones are cheaper, but they need a bracket made on the spot and hose cut to length.
What matters inside
An empty tank is just a box: the vapour goes through it and carries on. What counts is the separating material inside and the long path the vapour takes, so the oil condenses and drops out. The volume, from 0.3 to 1 litre, decides how often you empty it.
Closed or open circuit
The closed version returns the cleaned gases to the intake and keeps the vacuum in the crankcase, so it stays acceptable at an inspection. The open one vents to atmosphere, which is simple, but it smells and is not acceptable on public roads.
