Buying guide and details
Diameter
Choose it by the outside diameter of the pipe it is welded onto: a 76 mm pipe goes into a 76 mm flex pipe. In inches, 51 mm is 2, 63 mm is 2.5 and 76 mm is 3. Measure the diameter on the pipe, do not guess it from the car.
Length
Measure the straight section available after the manifold or after the turbo, cuffs included. The length in the title is that of the whole flex pipe.
201 or 304 stainless
304 stainless has 8-10.5% nickel, 201 has 3.5-5.5%. Nickel holds the layer that stops rust, so 304 stands up better to moisture and salt. The difference shows over time, not at fitting.
Where it goes
As close to the engine as possible: after the manifold on naturally aspirated engines, after the turbo on turbo ones. It has no place between the manifold and the turbo. Both ends are welded in line with the pipe, without stretching or compressing the flex pipe. Bends and flanges are in Motorsport Exhaust Mounts and Accessories.
