Why side support matters
In a standard seat, in a corner you hold yourself on the wheel with your arms so you do not slide. With side support, your arms are free for driving. The difference shows most after two hours, not in the first two minutes.
Reclining or fixed
Seats with a reclining back are the option for a car shared by several drivers and for long journeys. Fixed shells are lighter and stiffer, but the position is set once and stays there.
It does not bolt straight to the floor
You need a dedicated bracket for your car and side mounts or runners, depending on the seat. See the dedicated brackets. If you compete, look instead at the FIA homologated seats.
