Two different things under one name
A shortener kit only changes the ratio of the existing lever. A complete mechanism replaces the whole shifter box, with bearings instead of rubber bushes, and costs several times more. The second one does not just shorten the throw, it also takes out the sideways play, which is in fact the part you feel most.
Top mount or bottom mount
The Coolerworx names contain the mounting version. The same gearbox can have both a top mounted and a bottom mounted version, and the two are not interchangeable. Check what you have on the car before ordering, not just the model.
What changes every day
A short throw asks for more force on every shift, because you have a shorter lever arm. And you pass more gearbox noise into the cabin, especially with a bearing mechanism. On a track car that is exactly what you want; on one you also do long drives in, think twice.
What else is worth doing at the same time
Worn shifter bushes and gearbox mounts eat half the gain of a short shifter: the lever is precise, but the whole assembly moves. While you are under the car anyway, check them.
