The X-pipe ties the two exhaust runs together and lets them meet in the middle, where the pulse from one run helps the other one empty. The connections are 63 mm and the whole part measures 305 mm.

Where it goes
- On a dual exhaust, after the manifold or the catalyst and before the mufflers.
- On V engines and flat engines, where each bank has its own run.
- It changes the sound as well: runs that meet give a fuller note than two separate pipes.
Fitting
- The crossover goes after the manifold or after the catalyst and before the mufflers, where the two runs go side by side.
- It is welded into the line. The ends are plain, with no flange and no thread, so the two runs are cut to length on the car.
- Back-purge stainless with argon, otherwise the root of the weld goes porous.
