BC Racing coilovers
BC Racing coilovers
BC Racing has been building adjustable coilovers since 2006 and has over a thousand kits, each developed for one car. They do not take a universal damper and fit it to everything: every kit is tested and valved on the car it is meant for.
The base is the same across the range: a monotube damper, ride height set on the threaded body rather than on the spring, and damping set in clicks. What changes from one series to the next is the piston, how you adjust the damping, and whether the damper is inverted.
All of them are rebuildable and carry a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects. On the track series (DS, RM, ER, HM, ZR, ZX), running noise is not covered: it is normal on a track setup.
How to choose the series
From the road towards the track:
- BR: the starting point. The best price to performance for the road and the occasional circuit day. One knob sets the damping, compression and rebound together, 30 clicks.
- DS: a digressive piston, so the damping is firmer at the small, slow movements of the suspension and you read the car more clearly turning in and under braking. For the driver who drives on the wheel.
- RM: inverted damper, for MacPherson strut cars. Less unsprung weight and stiffer than BR.
- ER and HM: compression and rebound set independently, with remote reservoirs that hold more oil and heat up more slowly. HM is the inverted damper from RM plus the independent adjustment from ER. For serious track use.
- ZR and ZX: the top of the range. Low and high speed compression set separately, plus rebound, so two and three way adjustment, with remote reservoirs and Swift springs as standard. For competition and drift, when you want fine control over everything.
- V1: the affordable line, for standard cars, vans and MPVs. Ride height and damping adjustment at an entry price.
BC Racing coilovers built to order
The standard kits come with spring rates and valving chosen for the weight of the car and a road to light track use. If you have something else in mind, a track or drift only car, extra weight from modifications, or simply want it firmer or softer, BC Racing will build it to order:
- Spring rates of your choice, up to high values, calculated on the weight of the car and on how you use it.
- Valving matched to the springs you pick.
- Custom stroke and, on request, Swift springs: Japanese premium springs, lighter and more consistent than the standard ones.
Custom work is only done on cars BC already lists. If you have an unusual project and do not know what setup you need, write us the car and how you use it, and we will come back with the configuration, the price and the lead time.
Each series has its own page, with the construction, what you can adjust, what it gives you and where it stops. Not sure which one suits you? Tell us the car and how you use it (road, track days, drift) and we will tell you the series.
