The PCTX pistons from the Civic Type R EK9 have the highest dome of all the Type R pistons and suit naturally aspirated builds. They are high-pressure die cast, with a black dry molybdenum film on the skirts for less friction and wear, extra oil holes in the ring grooves for better high-rpm oil control, and holes in the wrist pin bosses for pin oiling.

What to check
- Check the final compression ratio and make sure there is no interference when fitting.
- On the B16A and B16A2, 1 mm of material must come off each side of the stock rod small end for piston clearance.
