Polycarbonate windows cut to the template of each model, in 3, 4 or 5 mm. They weigh less than half what glass does and they lower the centre of gravity, and the window mechanism can come out altogether.

How to choose

Thickness. The manufacturer recommends 3 or 4 mm for drift and circuit, 4 mm for rally, where the regulations ask for a stiffer window, and 5 mm for heavier demands. Check the regulations of your competition before ordering.
Mounting. The same window exists in several versions: some go into the original channels in the door, others are riveted or bonded, and a few are made for fibreglass doors. It says so in the title of each product.
The side. Side windows are chosen left or right, from the option on the product page. The rear screen is a single piece.
The slider. The slider version has a section that slides and locks, so you can put a hand out or let air through.

What you gain

Polycarbonate is 1.2 kg per cubic decimetre, against 2.7 for glass. At the same thickness, the window weighs less than half, and the weight taken out sits high in the car, so the centre of gravity drops too.
Once the window is fitted, the winding mechanism can come out.
UV protection on both faces, so it does not yellow in the sun.

The cutout is planned in advance

The slider needs a cut in the window, so the position and the size are decided once. Check in the regulations of your competition what minimum opening is required and on which side.

Sealing

The channel is riveted and bonded, and the edges are finished so no sharp edges are left. Polycarbonate cracks from holes drilled too close to the edge.
