Buying guide and details
The 147, the 156 and the GT run double wishbones at the front, not MacPherson. That means they also have an upper arm bush, a position that does not even exist on most cars in their class, and one that wears before the others. When you look for bushes for them, look by position, not by assembly.
The double wishbone front
The construction keeps the wheel closer to upright as the body leans. That is where the handling they are known for comes from. The price is paid in maintenance: there are more joints to wear. Play in the upper arm feels like vague steering around the straight ahead and is easily mistaken for a tired rack.
Giulia and Stelvio, another world
From 2016, the Giulia and the Stelvio sit on the Giorgio platform, rear or all wheel drive. They have nothing in common with the 147 or the 159. On the Quadrifoglio, the brakes and the suspension are sized differently from the rest of the range, so parts are chosen strictly by version.
What it shares with Fiat
The Alfa 155 sits on the same base as the Fiat Tipo and Tempra, and the 916 GTV and Spider come from the same family. On the older models, look under the Fiat name too when you cannot find a bush position: there is a good chance it is the same part.
What we stock
