The Skunk2 Alpha kit for Honda B16, B17 and B18 (VTEC) engines pairs dual valve springs with titanium retainers. The springs keep the valves from floating above 10,000 rpm, and the retainers cut valvetrain mass.

What to check
- Dual springs wound from Japanese chrome-silicon wire: the inner and outer springs are mated with a slight interference fit and have different frequencies, so they do not resonate together.
- Alpha retainers are made from ultrasonically inspected medical-grade titanium, CNC machined, with radius-cut edges for rocker clearance, lightening grooves and a reduced height; each one is inspected and serialized.
- Skunk2 lists it as not compatible with Pro Series camshafts.
