- HANS: sliding tethers give full vision and fit every HANS device
- Stilo lists the tether in four lengths: 16 in Extra Short (YF0013), 17 Short, 18 Standard and 19 Long

Replacement and approval
- Tethers are dated; HANS says to replace them every 5 years, after a major impact, or sooner if wear shows
- Appendix L, Art. 3.2: the FHR is worn only with FIA 8858 approved tethers; the approval is read on the label sewn on the tether
- FIA Technical List no. 29: tethers from one manufacturer can be attached to another manufacturer's helmet anchors when they are mechanically compatible
