Ball Seat Wheel Bolt M12x1.5
Wheel bolts M12x1.5 with a ball seat
The bolts are made of class 10.9 steel, zinc plated, and fit wheels that need a ball seat, for example original wheels of the VAG group. The thread is M12 x 1.5 mm with a 17 mm hex, in three lengths: 25, 35 and 45 mm.
With spacers, the thread must be longer by the thickness of the spacer. The table below shows how to calculate it.
Technical Specifications:
- Thread size: M12 x 1.5 mm.
- Thread pitch: 1.5 mm.
- Seat type: Ball seat, found on original wheels such as those of the VAG group.
- Hex size: 17 mm.
- Strength class: 10.9 (high strength).
- Finish: Zinc plated, against rust.

* This list covers only some of the compatible vehicles, and the details are for information only. Before ordering, check the thread of your car and the seat of your wheels.
On VW, original wheels with M12x1.5 are usually made for a ball seat, so this is the right bolt for them. On BMW, Mercedes and MINI, check the shape of the hole in the wheel. For aftermarket wheels with a conical seat, choose Conical Wheel Bolt M12x1.5.
If your car has a different thread:
- Newer models: M14x1.5 on VW, Audi and Mercedes, see Conical Wheel Bolt M14x1.5. M14x1.25 on the BMW F and G series, see BMW Wheel Bolt M14x1.25.
- Peugeot and Citroen: M12x1.25, see Conical Wheel Bolt M12x1.25.
Length with spacers
The length of the original bolt differs from one car to another and, on Mercedes, from one wheel to another. Measure the thread of your bolt, from under the head to the tip, and add the thickness of the spacer. The table below is an example for an original bolt of 28 mm.
| Spacer | Minimum thread | Option in range |
|---|---|---|
| 5 mm | 33 mm | 35 mm |
| 10 mm | 38 mm | 45 mm |
| 15 mm | 43 mm | 45 mm |
| 20 mm | 48 mm | above range, maximum 45 mm |
| 25 mm | 53 mm | above range, maximum 45 mm |
The option in range is the closest length that covers the calculation. Do not choose a bolt much longer than needed: it can touch the disc or the hub. Check the space behind the wheel before the final tightening. The bolt must engage at least 6.5 threads in the hub for M12x1.5, according to Eibach.
Recommendation: Do not use ball seat bolts on wheels designed for a conical seat. Always check the shape of the fixing hole of your wheel.
