Fitment and use
- Fits coilovers with a 62 mm spring perch. It has no vehicle list: choose it by the rate, diameter and length of the spring you are replacing.
- Sold individually: order two for one axle.
Choosing rate and length
The rate tells you how stiff the spring is: at 8 kg/mm it compresses one millimetre under 8 kilograms. A higher rate keeps the body flatter in corners and under braking, and suits cars with downforce or extra weight on the axle. A lower rate lets the wheel follow a bumpy surface.
The inner diameter is not a choice: the spring has to sit on the coilover perch. On BC Racing kits the standard perch is 62 mm on most applications.
Free length follows the damper stroke. A spring that is too short unloads at full extension and the wheel loses load over bumps. One that is too long uses up the ride height adjustment and the car will not go as low as you need.
Shape describes the spring between its ends. A straight spring has the same diameter along its length. A barrel spring has perch-sized ends and a wider middle. A tapered spring is narrower at one end, for kits where the upper perch is a different size from the lower one.
After a spring change, reset ride height and alignment, and corner weights if you have scales.
