BC Racing RM Coilover Kit - Mercedes-Benz SLK R172 (11-20) RWD, incl. SLK55 AMG 11-15
The BC Racing RM coilover kit, code J-16-RM-MA, fits the Mercedes-Benz SLK R172 (11-20) RWD.
The RM Series mounts the damper upside down, with the heavy part at the top, attached to the shell. Unsprung weight goes down, and the oil and gas sit further from the heat that climbs from the brakes through the hub.

Front: inverted dampers with aluminium pillowball top mounts, camber adjustable where the car allows it. Rear: upright dampers with aluminium top mounts with rubber centres, or no top mounts.
The kit BC recommends for this car has a spring rate of front 7 / rear 11 kg/mm.
Construction and adjustment
- Inverted monotube damper on MacPherson strut suspension. On cars with front struts only, the kit has an inverted front strut and a BR damper at the rear.
- 42 mm damper rod: it handles higher lateral loads for longer without fatigue. Those loads only appear on MacPherson strut suspension, not on double wishbone.
- Ride height adjustment independent of spring preload.
- 30 clicks of adjustment, with compression and rebound adjusted together.
- Custom spring rates or Swift compatible springs, with valving matched to the springs you choose.
Good to know
- The damper cartridge sits inside a threaded outer body, and BC asks for the old grease between them to be cleaned out and replaced periodically, without opening the damper. Because of this maintenance, BC does not recommend the RM, HM and ZR series for road use over the BR, DS, ER or ZX series.
